Screening with the presence of the director
The International Alexandria Short Film Festival presents the documentary Sculpted Souls by Stavros Psyllakis, with the director in attendance.
For 26 years (1972–1998), Swiss dentist Julien Grivel travelled to Athens, often accompanied by his wife Christane, to provide free dental care to people affected by leprosy at the “Agia Varvara” Hospital.
From a seaside location that he calls his “safe place,” Julien reflects on the profound inner journey that helped him see the world and life differently.
With Julien Grivel and Manolis Fountoulakis, a former leprosy patient, at its centre, the film follows the sculpting of Julien’s soul and explores how this great inner journey towards his own Ithaca has gradually taken shape within him.
After the screening, a live music evening with COCONUTS will take place in the courtyard of the Alexandroupolis Cultural Centre.

For the second consecutive year, the International Alexandria Short Film Festival continues its Student Competition, providing a space for the creativity and imagination of young filmmakers from the Imathia region.
The 12th edition features 15 student groups from schools across Imathia, who have created their own short films through a process of education, collaboration and cinematic expression.
The students participated in free filmmaking seminars and workshops organised by the Kinimatodrasis Film Club, exploring the fundamental stages of filmmaking, from developing an idea and writing a script to shooting and final editing.
The Student Competition creates an important bridge between education and culture, encouraging young people to tell their own stories, collaborate and discover the power of cinematic language.
As part of the screenings, the short film “XANAZOGRAFISe TO” by the 5th Primary School of Alexandria will also be presented. The film participated in the 5th Student Film Festival of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, “Myrrise Cinema.”

The 12th International Alexandria Short Film Festival comes to a close with a unique cinematic and musical experience.
The closing ceremony includes the Festival Awards Ceremony and a screening of the iconic Greek film “Let the Women Wait!” by Stavros Tsiolis, with all the songs from the film performed live on stage by the Babis Batmanidis Co(m)pany.
A unique fusion of cinema and live music, where a beloved film of Greek cinema meets the energy of a live orchestra, creating an original viewing and listening experience.
With its distinctive humour, warmth and unforgettable dialogue, Stavros Tsiolis’ film continues to move audiences and attract new generations of viewers, remaining a timeless portrait of Greek society.
The Babis Batmanidis Co(m)pany brings the film’s musical repertoire to the stage in a lively evening filled with images, songs, laughter and cinematic nostalgia.
In case of rain, the awards ceremony will take place inside Café Stathmos without the concert. Ticket prices will be refunded at the points of sale.
